ADCO Marine

Notes: This Benelli clone has been widely exported.  It is similar in many ways to some of the Benelli shotguns (like most Turkish-made shotguns), but is much rougher in the finish and tool marks.  The Marine is designed for use by fishermen and suchlike, both to dispatch large fish that haven’t gotten the message that their days are over, and to dispatch the likes of hijackers and pirates.  It’s not the best shotgun in the world, nor is it the prettiest, but it is a serviceable one.  The Marine has a sighting rib for quick aiming at short range, but it is known that the rib can be a bit less than straight or parallel to the barrel.

Huglu 401

Notes: This is a semiautomatic shotgun which is, in typical Huglu fashion, characterized by its elaborate and beautiful artwork on the receiver housing.  It is a recoil-operated shotgun made only for 12 gauge 2.75-inch shells.  The standard Huglu 401 has a magazine capacity of four rounds, with a variant called the Huglu 401A having a larger magazine capacity.  The feed from the tubular magazine can be interrupted by using a push button (also engraved); this allows for the selective use of slugs or unusual shells, or to empty the chamber without emptying the magazine.  Another variant of this shotgun is the Huglu 501 (and 501A); this is the same weapon, but has a gas-operated mechanism.  It also does not come in a 30-inch barrel version.  It is otherwise identical to the Huglu 401 for game purposes.

Lazer Arms XR410

Notes: This is similar to many other shotguns, particularly single-barrel shotguns also sold by Lazer Arms, except for one thing: it is a double-action design, fed by a revolver-like cylinder.  The stock and fore-end are of standard sporting rifle design, with a checkered pistol grip wrist and fore-end, and a rubber recoil pad on the butt. The profile of the shotgun is more slender than most pump-action and semiautomatic shotguns. The XR410 has a notch rear sight in the scout position and a fiberoptic sight in front at the end of the barrel. The rear sight is adjustable for elevation and windage. The cylinder does not have automatic extractors or even full extraction upon pushing the ejection rod; instead, the XR410 has an extraction rod that merely pushes the back ends of the rounds out of the cylinder, where you pick them out one by one. The trigger pull weight is described as very heavy, but the hammer allows for thumb cocking. The XR410 comes with a pair of plugs for two of the cylinders; they lock in with an allen key, and are used in jurisdictions where waterfowl hunting only allows for a magazine capacity of three rounds.  XR410s come in a short 20-inch barrel, the standard 24-inch barrel, and the rare 28-inch barrel.

Interesting Note: When I tried to go to the Lazer Arms web site, Norton 360 (my internet security suite) blocked me from loading the site, saying it was a known malicious site.  I clicked through, and sure enough, Norton blocked four malicious scripts, and Firefox (my web browser) blocked the site from further loading.  I decided to take the hint and not load that site, and found information in other places on the web.  Hmmm…

Panzer Arms AR12

Notes: The AR12 is, as the name suggests, a shotgun built on the AR-10/15 pattern, and does in fact look like an AR variant.  For the most part, the AR12 will be familiar to those familiar with the AR, and mesh with an AR user’s muscle memory. (A big difference is the charging handle, which is attached to the bolt instead of being at the rear of the receiver.) The top of the receiver and handguards has a full-length Picatinny Rail, and comes with folding rifle-type iron adjustable sights for the rail.  The stock is adjustable for length and height of the cheek rest.  The 20-inch barrel is tipped with a flash suppressor designed for use with shotshells. The gas block is adjustable for use with different loads and ammo types. The handguards are equipped with MLOK slots on the sides and underneath, and the Picatinny Rail above the handguards is equipped with a vent rib. A 51mm length of Picatinny Rail is found under the end of the handguard for use with lights, lasers, or other accessories. Finishes include matte black, desert camo, and woodland camo.

The AR12 Pro has a different Picatinny Rail layout from the standard AR12, with a half-length rail atop a riser on the receiver and a short length of Rail at the front of the handguard.  There is a full-length rail under the handguard instead of the lower MLOK slots.  The front of the magazine well is shaped to take the non-firing hand. Overall construction is more solid, and the AR12 Pro is considerably heavier than the standard AR12, as the lower receiver is all-7075 alloy instead of being largely polymer like that of the standard AR12.

The BP12 is a bullpup version of the AR12, built largely of a polymer shell around steel internals and a 7075 aluminum lower. The barrel is the same 20 inches, but is enclosed beyond the handguards in a heavy shroud instead of having a flash suppressor. There is a charging handle on each side of the receiver.  The BP12 has a 2/3 length Picatinny Rail atop the receiver and part of the handguards, with 102mm Rails on either side of the barrel, and a 1/3 length Rail under the handguards.

Sarsilmaz SA

Notes: This is an average sort of shotgun.  The SA-X 700 and the SA-X 700 C are essentially the same, except for the C’s camouflage pattern.  (The CS also has a camouflage pattern, but the receiver is black.)  The SA-X 700 is finished in black and gray. Common features include the synthetic furniture, the light alloy receiver, the ventilated aiming rib, the front bead sight, and 2/3 length magazine tube, and the ventilated recoil pad on the butt. The different models are the same for game terms except for their color.  The SA-X 700 R is also essentially the same, except for barrel length and the ability to use a sliding stock, a pistol grip, and muzzle brake.

The SA-W series are more traditional magnum shotguns, built with traditional lines, including a pistol grip wrist, a full-length aiming rib, and good to fine woods for the furniture.  Internally, however, they are nearly identical to the SA-X series. For game purposes, differences are primarily in the weight department. They are set up as hunting weapons rather than military/police weapons. The SA-W 700 L has fine-grain woods and snakeskin texturing of wear areas; the LX is similar, but has engraving on the black receiver. The SA-W 700 S is like the rest of the SA-W series, but in a semi-luxury design.  Each has an aiming rib and a fiberoptic front sight, and a selection of screw-in chokes (cylinder, improved cylinder, and modified; the gun’s natural choke is full). It has some engraving on its receiver. The Youth is a shorter, 20-Gauge version of the SA-W 700 S.  It has some engraving on its receiver. The SA-W 700 Deluxe is an even more deluxe version, replete with engraving on its receiver and stock and fore-end. The Youth’s furniture is Walnut, while the S has Grade 2 Walnut and the Deluxe grade 3. This version of the SA has a recoil pad and a match-quality barrel.

Sulun Arms SR-410

Notes: This short-barreled shotgun was designed with the Canadian market in mind, and due to its short barrel and stocked configuration it is not legal for civilian ownership in many countries in the world (including the US) without special permits. It is a simple shotgun design, with a laminated walnut stock that is checkered on the pistol grip wrist and fore-end, and with a rubber recoil pad on the butt. The SR-410 uses a revolver-type feed, which is becoming more popular these days. The short barrel is only 9.8 inches in length, and has a ventilated sighting rib and a bead front sight.  Trigger pull weight is a bit heavy in double-action mode, but thumb cockling is possible due to the exposed, large hammer.  The gauge is small, but the weight is likewise low.  The muzzle is threaded inside for use with interchangeable choke tubes; the SR-410 can use choke tubes from Beretta and Benelli.

Twilight 2000 Notes: The SR-410 is not available in the Twilight 2000 timeline, though similar shotguns are.

Tristar Viper G2

Notes: Though this carries the American Tristar name, Tristar is simply the company that imports the Viper G2 -- the actual manufacturer is a Turkish company that operates under the Huglu umbrella.  Like most of the shotguns that Tristar imports, the Viper G2 is designed to be lightweight, strong, and yet inexpensive (IRL prices) and of good utility. There are over 20 variants of the Viper G2, most of which differ primarily in color or stock style.  Front sights are fiberoptic, and the barrel takes interchangeable chokes designed for Beretta or Benelli shotguns.  Their native choke is Cylinder, but they come with Improved Cylinder, Modified, and Full choke tubes.  Stocks may be synthetic or wood, depending on the model and variant.  They have a magazine cutoff that allows the weapon to be loaded even if there are rounds already in the magazine. Atop the barrel is a ventilated sighting rib, with a matte black top to aid in sighting regardless what color the barrel is.  The chamber and barrel bore are chromed.  If the furniture is synthetic, the Viper G2 will have Soft Touch grip panels on the pistol grip wrist and fore-end (with the exception of the Turkey); wood-stocked versions will have checkered grip panels..

The Silver comes with a 26 or 28-inch barrel, and has a bright nickel-plated receiver, trigger guard, and trigger.  The stock may or may not have a recoil pad on the butt; it is made of birch.  The barrel is gloss black, and the shotgun comes with an additional choke tube called Extended Skeet.  The for-end grip area may be black or wood color; this grip area and the pistol grip wrist are checkered.  The 12 and 20-gauge versions are built to the same scale; the 28-gauge version is scaled down and physically smaller in the stock and fore-end than it's larger brothers. The Wood variant is the same in game terms, but has a black receiver and trigger, and comes only in 12 and 20 gauge.  20 and 28-gauge versions have essentially the same design; however, they are lighter than their 12-gauge counterparts. The Synthetic is also similar, but has a polymer stock that has a recoil pad. It differs primarily in price, though it too does not come in a 28 gauge version.

The SR Sport has a synthetic stock, and a kind or orangish-pink receiver and magazine tube cap.  It has a 30-inch barrel, and comes only in 12 gauge. The stock has a recoil pad.  The 28" Camo is finished in RealTree Max 4 camouflage, a type of woodland camouflage.  The 24 and 26-inch versions have RealTree Advantage Timber camouflage. It is similar to the Synthetic, but also comes in a 24-inch-barrel version for the 12 gauge bore. As might be guessed, the Youth model has a shorter length of pull than standard Viper G2s, and has a barrel of 24 inches (though a barrel extension is available to increase the barrel length to 26 inches).  It also comes with an extended stock to fit larger individuals.  Furniture is synthetic.  The Youth Wood has birch furniture as the Wood version above, and the Youth Camo has a RealTree Advantage Timber pattern.  The Youth is identical to the Camo except for the weight and price.  The Turkey is designed for fowling, and comes only with one extra choke tube -- Turkey (roughly equivalent to Extra Full). The Turkey is equipped with a MIL-STD-1913 rail above the receiver, and finished with RealTree Max 4 camouflage.  The barrel is kept short at 24 inches to allow for quick target acquisition.  The stock includes a full pistol grip.

Left-handed versions of the Synthetic and Camo are available, but only in 12 gauge and with a 28-inch barrel.  They are otherwise the same as the Synthetic and Camo for game purposes.

Ucylidiz Arms Akdal MKA 1919

Notes: Produced in Turkey since 2007 under Ucylidiz and before then by other manufacturers, the Akdal looks like an AR-15 with an oversized barrel and magazine and a Picatinny Rail atop the receiver, complete with removable carrying handle. BUIS also come with the Akdal. The barrel is 19.7 inches, chrome-lined, and tipped with a muzzle designed for interchangeable choke tubes; the native choke is Cylinder, and Modified and Full choke tubes come with the Akdal.  The Akdal takes into account the muscle memory of many shooters with the AR-15 platform, and is otherwise easy to use, like an AR-15. Operation is virtually the same as an AR-15, operating by a self-adjusting gas system. Construction of the upper receiver is largely of 7075 aluminum; the lower receiver is a single piece of polymer, including the pistol grip and stock.  The butt has a rubber recoil pad. The Akdal may fire 2.75-inch and 3-inch shells, but the different-length shells each require a separate magazine.
