Centurion Ordnance Poseidon MS (MicroShotgun)

Notes: Though sold exclusively by the US company of Centurion Ordnance, the Poseidon shotgun itself is manufactured in Turkey, and the special ammunition it fires is made only in Mexico; this places the Poseidon firmly in the “International” category.  Though the Poseidon is really not much smaller than a typical shotgun of the same construction, the “MicroShotgun” moniker is sort of accurate, since it refers more to its special 12-gauge ammunition than the size of the shotgun.  It should also be noted that the versions of the Poseidon with 15-inch or 12-inch barrels are often referred to as “Poseidon MicroShotgun Tactical.”

As is noted above, the Poseidon fires special 12-gauge ammunition – the shells are very short, and designed primarily for short-range work and to limit damage to property while allowing a much higher magazine capacity than would be normal for a shotgun of the Poseidon’s size.  (Currently, only buckshot shells are offered, but slug loads are being examined by Aquila for possible future development.)  The Poseidon was originally meant for use as a home defense weapon, but a few members of the law enforcement and special operations community realized that such a weapon might have some limited applications for their jobs, and therefore short-barreled models of the Poseidon were designed.  (Normally, only versions with 18.5-inch barrels are sold to civilians.)  To further reduce the size of the Poseidon, the stock is also shortened, and the shotgun is also equipped with a true pistol grip stock instead of a conventional stock.

The stock of the Poseidon is built of polymer, while metalwork is of light steel alloy except for the operating parts and the barrel, which are conventional steel.  Optional accessories are a MIL-STD-1913 rail (not standard on civilian models, but most police and military versions do have one), and a “side-saddle” shell carrier for the receiver.  Standard sights are a ghost ring rear sight and a blade front sight.

Twilight 2000 Notes: This weapon does not exist in the Twilight 2000 timeline.

Merc 2000 Notes: Police actually found little use for this weapon, and the military virtually no use, but civilians bought them in droves for home defense.

Stoeger P-350

Notes: The fact that the P-350 is so similar to recent Benelli designs is no accident – Stoeger is as of 2005 under the Beretta/Benelli/Franchi umbrella, and licensed many of its design features to Stoeger.  The stock and furniture of the P-350 is of synthetic material, finished in black or one of two camouflage designs, Max-4 (designed to blend with marshlands) and Timber HD (designed to blend with forested terrain).  There are four versions, but the first three (the Synthetic, the Advantage Max-4, and the Advantage Timber HD) are identical for game purposes.  The P-350 Defense is a short-barreled version meant for police, military, and home-defense use, and comes finished only in black.  Barrels for the hunting versions range from 24-28 inches, while the Defense version has an 18.5-inch barrel.  The interchangeable choke set consists of Cylindrical, Improved Cylinder, Full, and Modified, Extended Full Turkey.  The barrels have a ventilated sighting rib atop them, with the exception of the P-350 Defense.  The action is basically a modern Benelli action, with dual action bars and a rotating bolt head.  The pistol grip wrist and pump lever are ribbed for a positive grip.  For an extra cost, a mercury-filled recoil reducer can be installed in the stock.  There is also a recoil pad on the butt.  The P-350 is able to digest 2.75-inch, 3-inch, and 3.5-inch shells, and virtually any sort of shot or slug ammunition.

Twilight 2000 Notes: This shotgun does not exist in the Twilight 2000 timeline.
