Dansk Schouboe Model 1907
Notes: This
pistol was designed by Lieutenant Jens Torring Schouboe, an officer in the
Danish Army and director of the Dansk Rekylriffel Syndikat, a maker of firearms
of the time. The Model 1907 was
designed after the failure of his first pistol design; it is a very
large-caliber pistol that was designed to be relatively light in weight.
He also wanted to use a simple blowback design, but this was difficult to
do with such a large bullet. He
therefore designed a very lightweight bullet, made of wood with a thin copper
jacket. The weapon worked, but the
bullet was really too light to have much stopping power, and it lost velocity
quickly. The Model 1907 was never
popular, and production stopped altogether in 1917.
