Notes: This is a
luxury convertible sports car meant only for the very rich, as denoted by its RL
price. It is a very strong,
very-heavily-built car with a powerful 380-horsepower engine that is limited
only by the high weight of the Azure.
It was built by Bentley with help from the Italian automobile designer
Sergio Pininfarina, and is based on the Bentley Continental.
Virtually every luxury known to man can be found on the Azure, like most
Bentley cars. Strangely enough, a
radio is not included as standard issue on the Azure, though a CD changer/player
and a cassette player are included, as are a cell phone and a built-in laptop
computer. This car also has night
vision, and the late-model Bentleys were some of the first civilian vehicles to
include it, with a thermal camera in the radiator grill and a mirror that
flashes a view from the camera onto the windshield, similar to a HUD in a modern
fighter aircraft. The Azure, like
all Bentleys, is largely hand-made to the requirements of a specific buyer and
is made mostly of cast iron and steel.
Despite its heavy construction, the Azure is quite agile and very
responsive in turns, parking, passing, and some more unorthodox maneuvers.
The downside of the Azure, like all Bentleys, is that it requires a great
deal of maintenance to operate properly, the parts are expensive and difficult
to find, and the engine requires premium fuel.

Notes: This was one of the last Bentley cars built before the November Nuclear
Strikes.

Notes: This
Bentley, based on a racecar chassis and engine, was named after a Northern
Ireland racetrack. It replaced the
Mulsanne in production, and is basically a middle of the line Bentley offering.
It features ample interior room and a great deal of luxuries and
accessories. Basically, most of the
luxuries that can be found on civilian cars, as well as some more luxuries not
normally found on civilian vehicles, can be found on the Brooklands.
Later models have more stuff.
The engines are a 300-horsepower turbocharged V8 engine, developing the
highest torque on a gasoline V8 engine at the time; however, this engine was not
available until 1996, and a non-turbocharged 222 horsepower engine, also with
high torque, was the standard engine until then. The mechanisms of the
Brooklands are largely computer controlled and offer precise control over
functions. Unfortunately, it is not
a fast car, nor is it particularly maneuverable, as both the suspension and
engine are downgraded over its racecar roots.
Handling can be rather sluggish, in fact.
And, as with most Bentleys, it takes a great deal of time and money to
take care of.

Bentley Continental
1993-97
Notes: This is
the Bentley equivalent of a luxury sports coupe.
The Continental comes in two versions, the R model and the T model; the
main difference is the higher torque and lower horsepower in the R and the lower
torque and higher horsepower of the T.
Both engines are thirsty V-8s requiring premium fuel for proper
operation. The Continental has the
nicest interiors of the Bentleys, with extremely high-quality leather, plush,
comfortable seats, wood trim, and well-placed, ergonomic controls.
The leather seats and the carpets are unfortunately very hard to clean,
with most stains not coming out even with professional help.
Despite the Continental’s size and weight, it handles more like a Porsche
or a Jaguar that is much lighter and smaller.
And the luxury level is extreme.

Bentley Mulsanne
1987-92
Notes: This is
Bentley’s previous mainline model, replaced by the Brooklands.
Luxury is similar to the Brooklands, but less, as some items were not
available in the time period that the Mulsanne was offered.
Things like night vision and cell phones are not standard on the
Mulsanne, though many owners added them when they became available.
However, the Mulsanne features a very good suspension that makes handling
very nimble, and is also constructed partially from light alloy construction
that makes the Mulsanne very light (for a Bentley).
The engine used has similar torque to the Brooklands, but is a powerful
506 horsepower.

Bentley Turbo
1993-97
Notes: This is
the Bentley sedan counterpart to the Continental.
It features all the luxuries, accessories, and conveniences of the
Continental in a larger, family-sized package, and the only thing it lacks is
the Continental T’s 400 horsepower engine, having only a 316-horsepower engine.
It does, however, have a GPS system and mapping software for its internal
computer, and in addition has a system similar to the On-Star system in some US
cars. This is one of the best
performing of the Bentleys, but also one of the least reliable; monthly repair
shop visits and repair bills of up to 10% of the car’s cost per year are common.
Handling is similar to that of a sports car.
